‘Need to study reason for Tanjung Piai shocking defeat’
KOTA KINABALU: Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders especially from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) must investigate and study the reasons for the Tanjung Piai by-election defeat in Johor.

Bersatu Sabah leader Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor (pic) said there must be a reason for the shocking defeat by 15,000 vote margin.

“There must be something the people are not happy with in the administration of the PH government, not only at the Johor State level, but at the Federal Government level, which may include issues of the unfulfilled 14th General Election promises.

“At the same time PH cannot look down on cooperation between the opposition parties through Muafakat Nasional involving PAS and Umno.

“The cooperation between Umno and PAS has an impact on the results the Tanjung Piai by-election,” he said in a statement commenting on the victory of BN candidate, Wee Jeck Seng.

Hajiji who is Sulaman Assemblyman however said PH candidate’s defeat in Tanjung Piai has no impact on Bersatu’s development and strength in Sabah.

He said political issues in Sabah are different from those in Peninsular Malaysia.

“Sabah Bersatu will continue to work hard, reach out and serve the people in the State. We will continue to grow and be stronger in Sabah through participation and support of the indigenous people including youths,” he said.
