The management company (MC) for some Kinarut apartments can only begin repairing the damage outside a unit there once the local authority approves the modifications the firm wishes to make.
A MC spokeswoman said it had submitted a plan for the proposed modifications to the District Council at the beginning of the year.

“We have yet to receive a green-light from the agency for this work,” she said on November 14.
“Nevertheless, our staff are due to sit down with representatives from the Council later this month.
“We will follow-up on the outcome of our earlier request during this meeting.”
KRIS, the owner of the apartment which is located at the top floor of one of the blocks, first noticed the problem some time ago.

She said a wooden panel above her balcony was blown away by strong winds.
“Rust has also eaten away parts of the gutter which runs along the roof,” she said.

“Rainwater leaks down through holes in the gutter during a downpour.
“The water has been getting into my room and has damaged the furniture and electrical fixtures inside.”
She personally reported these irregularities to the management company (MC) for the apartments on several occasions.
Kris said she had grown tired of phoning the firm on and off over the intervening period.
“At one stage, the MC sent a handyman to patch up my ceiling but, until now, nothing has been done to seal the leak.
“I have even written twice to the developer for the property. So far, I have yet to receive an official response to my letters.”
