Damaged sections of Kepayan flyover fixed
THE contractor responsible for constructing the newly-opened flyover in Kepayan, had sealed the damaged sections of the road next to the bridge concerned the morning of Nov 20.

Hotline received several complaints from motorists recently who bemoaned the presence of several deep and large potholes next to the flyover as it could cause accidents to those who were unaware of them.

A spokesman for Pembinaan Azam Jaya, when contacted, said its workers were immediately deployed to the site upon receiving a report from its office.

“We discovered some parts of the bitumen need repair as this happen when the asphalt surface no longer holds its original shape and develops material stress which causes issues later.

“Such issues include cracking, potholes and depression on the road,” he added.

He said it would examine the rest of the asphalt surface on that stretch and conduct the necessary repair soon as possible.

“We apologised to members of the public for the delay to attend to the problem,” he added.

HENRY, a concerned motorist, said the damaged part of the road could cause accident to unsuspecting drivers or motorcyclists.

“What makes this situation even more dangerous is the fact that you can only see the potholes as you come down from the flyover,” he added.

He said road users may risk being hit by vehicles plying on the next lane if they swerve abruptly to that lane in an attempt to avoid the potholes.

“Any pothole must be attended to without much delay as most drivers are taking advantage of the newly upgraded road to reach their respective destination by speeding through it,” (OV)
