King opens RM26m Labuan Complex
LABUAN: Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on Tuesday officially opened the RM26 million Darul Kifayah Complex at Jalan Tanjung Taras on his maiden visit to the island since his coronation in July.

The King accompanied by Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, signed a plaque to mark the opening of the Complex upon their arrival at 2.50pm. His Majesty said the complex should equip the children with necessary religious knowledge for their future and to build a holistic personality.

He also urged the Islamic Religious Centres across the country, including tahfiz centres, to adhere to the safety rules.

The state-of-the-art complex owned by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) was built to serve underprivileged students, converts and orphans.

The Complex which began operations in January 2018 consists of a hostel, multipurpose hall, food theatre, administration building, sports field, surau and staff quarters.

The 5.83-acre Complex can accommodate up to 200 students at one time and it is currently home to 68 orphans and underprivileged children from Labuan, Sarawak and Sabah.
