16,296 get jobs through 29 job fairs this year

TAWAU: A total of 16,296 job seekers were offered employment through 29 Job Fair events organised in Sabah this year, said Sabah Labour Department Deputy Director-General Othman Abdullah.He said the statistics proved the programme had succeeded in helping job seekers obtain employment which matched their level of qualification.

“The programme in Tawau is the 30th and last Job Fair event this year.
“Next year, 35 events will be held in Sabah, including in Tawau and Kalabakan,” he told reporters after the Tawau Job Fair programme at Tawau UTC, which was launched by Tawau Municipal Council President Datuk Ir Amrullah Kamal, on Saturday.
Othman said the Labour Department would have a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and Innovation, the Human Resource Development Department and the related agencies to create a platform for employment opportunities.
“Today, 13 employers participated in the Tawau Job Fair and 1,520 jobs were offered to 452 graduates and the rest to non-graduates,” he said.

Meanwhile, Amrullah said job seekers in the district should take advantage of the opportunity provided by the Labour Department in gaining employment.
“Do not feel ashamed to start from the bottom. If you want to improve your skills, take advantage of the skills training provided by the Government through training providers,” he said.
