Sabah needs a motor race circuit: Bersatu Armada head

MEMBAKUT: The Federal Youth and Sport Ministry (KBS) need to build a motor race circuit in Sabah to fulfil the needs of motor racing enthusiasts in the State, said Sabah Bersatu Armada Chief Mohd Isquzawan Israq Datuk Arsit.

“The construction of the motor race circuit need to be realised immediately considering the increasing interest among young people in Sabah in motor sports. 

“This is time for KBS to consider building a circuit for young people in Sabah for the development of motorsports in the State.

“We are not asking a circuit as big as the Sepang International Circuit. Sabah needed a circuit like the ones in Pasir Gudang or Gong Badak in Terengganu to stimulate the motorsport industry,” he said during the Sabah  Youth Town Hall Meeting held at Dewan Seri Wawasan of Kampung Pimping here Sunday.

Federal Youth and Sport Minister, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, also attended the programme organised by Sabah Armada.

Membakut Assemblyman, Datuk Haji Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, who is also Sabah Bersatu Treasurer, Lumadan Assemblyman, Matbali Musah, and Klias Assemblyman, Datuk Isnin Haji Alisnih, were also present. 

Mohd Isquzawan said young people in Sabah will have a place to race and their talent exposed when there is such a circuit in the State. 

He also hoped that more employment opportunities could be created for young people in Sabah under the 2020 National Budget. 

“Sabah Armada hopes that the State will also get a share from the special fund of RM6.5 billion for creating 350,000 job opportunities next year. Hopefully, it will also create more jobs for young people in urban and rural areas,” he said. 

Mohd Isquzawan also urged KBS to upgrade the futsal arenas in several parliamentary constituencies in Sabah, saying all these are among those voiced out and requested by young people in Sabah which need to be given apt attention by the Government through KBS. 

He said Sabah Armada is not only a political platform but also an organisation that listen, gather ideas and wishes of the young people. 

“Sabah Armada will bring up their aspiration and be together with them in voicing out the issues concerning young people in the State,” he said. 

Meanwhile, Mohd Arifin who is also Kimanis Bersatu Division Chief proposed to KBS to build an integrated sports centre for the West Coast South Division in Membakut. 

He also said youths can only progress and achieve success and that their status can be uplifted when they possessed noble values.
