RANAU: Christians from across the country especially Sabah, are invited to participate in a rare and unique celebration that will be held at the Mount Rosary in Kg Toboh Baru Ranau on Saturday.

The occasion, the Consecration of the Ranau Parish to the Immaculate Heart of Mary which is considered to be the first time in Malaysia will be officiated by the Archbishop of the Kota Kinabalu Archdiocese, Datuk John Wong Soo Kau.

Rector of St Peter Claver Ranau (SPCR) Parish, Rev Fr Nicholas Stephen said the event is planned, in keeping with the message of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima Portugal in 1917, where she asked for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart. “Over the years, our parish has been through events of great blessing to every individual, family, and whole community in Ranau where God intervenes through Our Lady in bringing us through moments of anxiety, insecurity, and when we lost directions.

“Fr Francis Tsen, Fr Daniel Jomilong and I have decided to consecrate our parish to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in keeping with her message in 2017 in conjunction with 100 years of her apparition in Fatima.

“Since then, the faith of the Catholics in Ranau has grown, so much so that I have seen Mary’s intervention,” he said.

Nicholas said the growing number of Christians here are increasingly thirsty for the word of God and seeing the state of the world leading to ruin where family, religious and moral institutions are at risk encouraged him to make the consecration.

He said the event on Dec 7 will begin at about 1pm in St John Tambiau with a procession of the faithful with the statue of Our Lady for two kilometer, heading towards Mount Rosary in Kg Toboh Baru, where there will be a Holy Mass at 5.30pm.

The invite all Christians, especially Catholics, to join the event by bringing along family members, friends and neighbors while holding out their own banners with pictures of their families throughout the procession.

“I urge all to come early, and bring your banners with the pictures of your loved ones and Our Blessed Mother. I urge everyone to participate in this event by consecrating ourselves, our family, state and country to the Immaculate Heart of Mary,” he said.
