A CONCERNED member of the public has suggested the City Hall to cut the long tree branches that grew beyond the retaining wall in Damai Plaza, Luyang, to prevent them from becoming a road hazard. The complainant, who contacted Hotline on Dec 4, said a continuous rain which aggravated by strong winds may cause the branches to snap and fall onto passing vehicles.

“We don’t want that to happen, especially when there is fear that strong winds may hit several parts of Sabah in the next few days,” stressed RAY, who lives in Taman Sinar, Luyang.
The Sabah Meteorological Department had issued a first category warning (strong winds of up to 40-60 km/hr and sea condition of 2.5-3.5 metres is forecasted until Dec 6 for Sabah and Sarawak) which will last until Dec 6.
Apart from that, he also urged the authority concerned to remove any tree that grows on the retaining wall to prevent damaging its concrete structure.
“That is why I think the caretaker must remove any tree on the structure although its leafy branches provide shade to passers-by during hot sunny days,” he added.
