Two sisters charged with RM1,647 CBT

Kota Kinabalu: Two sisters were charged with committing criminal breach of trust amounting RM1,647.95 pertaining to the raw supply of chicken heads to a crocodile farm.Chai Wee Ying, 36, and Chai Wee Ser, 35, pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz, Friday.

Ying and Ser, in their capacity as a director and manager of Suan Hong Crocodile Farm Sdn Bhd, respectively, are accused of breaching the trust given to them by the company to get chicken heads from two suppliers, Pertanian Tuaran Sdn Bhd and Eng Peng Cold Storage Sdn Bhd.
However, the chicken heads were not received by the crocodile farm and caused the company to suffer a total loss of RM1,647.95.
The offence under Section 409 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between two and 20 years, and liability to fine, upon conviction.
The court set Jan 9 next year for case management and released the sisters on a bail of RM3,000 in two local sureties.

The sisters were also warned not to tamper with the prosecution witnesses. Their passports were ordered to be impounded by the court until the disposal of their case.
Earlier, in asking for bail, counsel P.J Perira asked for lower sum of RM1,000 since the amount involved was only over RM1,600.

He said the sisters’ family owned 49 per cent of shares in the company and Ying has two kids while Ser has a 10-month-old baby to look after.
However, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nureen Natasha Mohd Raffie proposed bail at RM5,000 in two local sureties.
