Drug offences: 32 nabbed in KK op

KOTA KINABALU: City police detained 32 people, aged between 18 and 57, for various offences under the Dangerous Drugs Act in a week-long operation since Nov 30.
The arrests comprised two for drug distribution, three for drug possession and 27 for substance abuse.

These came following 18 raids carried out during the period in efforts to identify and take action against drug syndicate members, including those involved in substance abuse.
Acting City Police Chief Supt George Abd Rakman said 58.01gm of syabu and 2.40gm of ecstasy pills worth a total of RM8,925 were also seized.
The latest raid (Ops Sarang) carried out on Dec 3 and Dec 6 in Sinsuran and Kg Likas saw eight people rounded up for inspection, leading to the arrest of seven for drug offences.
On Dec 5, some 101 people, including women, were rounded up for inspection during “Ops Ice Breaker.” The operation saw 10 people nabbed for drug offences.
