CITY HALL (DBKK) officers will check on the goings-on at a Luyang neighbourhood.

This follows a complaint about the inconsiderate actions of a rate-payer who has apparently turned part of his compound into a “warehouse”.

A City Hall spokesman said it would have to verify these claims.

“If it proves to be true, the homeowner will be asked to stop using the premises as a store,” he said.

“The individual will be given a grace period to this, after which further action could be taken against him or her.”

MENG of Luyang voiced her misgivings about the potential negative impact of the “warehouse” in the neighbourhood.

She said lorry-loads of electrical goods were delivered to the house regularly.

“A stray spark from the wiring inside the house is all it will take to set the premises on fire,” she said.

She said this blaze could spread quickly to the other houses in the neighbourhood.

Meng decried the activities of homeowner as endangering the wellbeing of the others living in the area.

“I hope the local authorities will intervene before we lose our homes or our loved ones.”

She also bemoaned the traffic hazards posed by the lorries parked on the road side near the premises.

“The lorries narrow the road and make it difficult for us to enter or leave our homes because these vehicles block our view of oncoming traffic,” she said.

She wanted to know how the home-owner could have allowed a “warehouse” to operate in a residential area.

“Wouldn’t such a premises have been better suited for an industrial zone?”

She provided Hotline with the name of the housing road along which “warehouse” in question. This information was forwarded to City Hall. (SS)
