Sabah PH agrees Warisan to contest in Kimanis
KOTA KINABALU: A consensus has been reached by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sabah leadership on giving autonomous powers to Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) to put up a candidate in the upcoming Kimanis parliamentary by-election.

The decision was made during a meeting convened by Datuk Christina Liew (pic), as PH Sabah Chairperson, about 7pm, here, Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by main party leaders to discuss the issue related to the Kimanis by-election following the Federal Court’s decision to uphold the Election Court’s decision that declared the election results for the constituency, which was won by former Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, null and void.

A media statement issued on Wednesday stated that the decision is based on the Rantau election petition case which has decided that the party contesting in the 14th General Election is given the opportunity to contest, the same goes for by-election cases which give mandate to the contesting party to re-elect a candidate from the party.

“Pakatan Harapan Sabah component parties will support and ensure the victory of the candidate decided by Warisan. Component parties’ machineries will be activated and mobilised to assist the candidate in the by-election,” it read. Among those present was Sabah Deputy Bersatu Chief Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun who represented his Chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor who is in Kuala Lumpur and Sabah DAP Socialist Youth Publicity Secretary Phoong Jin Zhe who represented Sabah DAP Chairman Datuk Frankie Poon who had a function to attend to.

Also present was Sabah Amanah Chief, Lahirul Latigu.
