Nabawan hosts Sabah Games for first time

NABAWAN: Sabah Youth and Sports Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mohamad Yusri Abdullah described Nabawan’s inaugural hosting of the Sabah Games (Saga) as a historical moment for the district.
A total of 26 contingents from across the State came together to compete in the games held at the Nabawan Mini Sports Complex for the first time.

“The event benefits the people of Nabawan, besides providing sustenance.
“It is a major sporting venue and all lodgings were fully booked by athletes and sports officials,” he said.
The purpose of the sporting event is to showcase sports talents and select athletes to represent the State at a higher level.
He said action will be taken against athletes who are not disciplined and found guilty of committing offences and therefore hoped athletes will remain disciplined throughout the event.

Meanwhile, Nabawan District Officer cum Sports Venue Chairman, Virus Malitam, thanked the government and the Ministry for putting trust in Nabawan to host the event.
He said it is a gift to the Nabawan Pensiangan community to have their district picked for the first time for the prestigious sporting event.
