SABAH Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) clarified that the cable which fell and lying on the greenery in Kampung Membawang Pulutan in Manggatal, is no longer in use and will be removed from the site later this month.

A concerned villager there has initially asked the firm to restore the cable back to its supporting poles for safety reason. A SESB spokeswoman, when contacted recently, said it had inspected the condition of the low voltage cable and had also discovered that it was formerly being supplied to a poultry farm there.

“But we were told that the farm operator had since stopped its operation,” she added.

She said the task to dismantle the service line in question would be carried out soon as possible.

The cable has been lying precariously among the tall grass of a vacant land in that village for more than a month, according to a villager there.

“I fear for the safety of the villagers especially children who are not aware of the danger that lies in that part of the greenery,” lamented JOHNNY, who is unsure what has caused the cable to fall from the poles. (OV)
