Sabah MACC, Water Dept to team up against graft

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sabah Director Karunanithy Y Subbiah paid a courtesy call on Sabah Water Department (JANS) Director Datuk Amarjit Singh, Thursday, to establish strategic cooperation and create mutual understanding in combating corruption.
Amarjit said the collaboration is also to seek the views and support of MACC for the improvement of procedures that impede the smooth governance of JANS.

According to him, it is aimed to ensure that efforts by JANS to strengthen integrity and eradicate corruption are implemented efficiently and effectively.
“JANS is committed to improving governance in terms of integrity.

“The seriousness of JANS can also be seen through the improvement of the procurement system introduced as one of the Government’s saving measures,” he said, in a statement, Friday.
Among the main topics discussed were the implementation of awareness programmes in enhancing integrity towards capacity building and capability in combating corruption in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, implement enforcement programmes in terms of preventing illegal connectivity of water supply and to increase the knowledge and awareness of the workforce on the impact of corruption and the role of the department in the fight against corruption.
