Many Sabah events for Visit M’sia Year

KOTA KINABALU: The State Government through the Sabah Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment has numerous programmes in the pipeline in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2020 (VM2020).
Its Minister, Datuk Christina Liew (pic), who is also Deputy Chief Minister, assured that her Ministry through the Sabah Tourism Board (STB) will continue to work hard in sustaining and increasing the arrivals to Sabah.

“In line with this effort, we will be participating in 22 travel, trade and consumer shows and fairs nationally and internationally in countries of our major target markets,” she said.
Among targeted markets are ITB, Berlin, which is the world’s largest tourism trade fair, Matta Travel Fair, Diving and Resort Travel (DRT) Show Shanghai, Korea MyCEB) Roadshow (MyCEB stands for Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau), Thai International Travel Fair, Bangkok and World Travel Mart, UK.
She said this when officiating the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents’ (Matta) launching of Visit Malaysia Year 2020 at the Hilton Hotel’s main lobby entrance, here, Saturday.
“Apart from that, we are also focusing on the emerging markets for Sabah such as India and the Middle East. We will be attending Satte in New Delhi, a leading B2B travel trade engagement show,” she said. (Satte is an acronym for South Asia Travel and Tourism Exhibition).

“For the Middle East, if all goes well, we will make our presence felt in the World Expo at Expo 2020 in Dubai, “ she added.
In conjunction with VMY2020, Sabah will also be hosting two international events. The first one is the 9th Pata (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Adventure Travel Conference and Mart 2020 to be held here from Feb 12 – 14, next year.
