TENOM: Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Mamagun reiterated its call to Sabah Infrastructure Development Ministry (KPI) to build a detour along the slope at Senagang hill as the road is narrow and dangerous for motorists.

“We are worried that if this road is not repaired, it will cause more accidents as what have happened in the past... It is difficult to prevent accidents from happening because there are no other lanes.
“We have to speak out as the issue has been there for decades but there is still no response (to address it),” he told Daily Express, adding that the Minister concerned had been made aware of the problem.
He said he even expressed his wish to upgrade the road during several public meetings several months ago.
Rudy who is also a Deputy Chairman of Tenom District Taxi Association (Peteks) said he was optimistic that Datuk Peter Anthony would handle it well as the State Budget 2020 allocation for his Ministry is about RM1.57 billion.

He also suggested that any steep, hilly area along the Tenom-Keningau route should be upgraded to reduce the risk of accident.
Meanwhile, he is pleased that the road surface between Tenom to Pamilaan has been sealed and that the upgrading will continue up to Keningau as what Peter had previously planned.
