Man killed in Papar crash

PAPAR: Holiday mood turned tragic when a Chinese man in his 20s was killed in an accident involving two cars at Km 19, Jalan Lama Papar-Kota Kinabalu, on SaturdayDistrict Police Chief DSP Batholomew Umpit said the incident happened at about 3.45pm when a Proton Saga which the man was travelling in collided with an oncoming Toyota Avanza.

“The Proton was heading from Papar to Kota Kinabalu and its driver was attempting to overtake another vehicle at a corner when the incident occurred.
“The impact caused the victim who was seated at the back to sustain serious injuries and died on the spot,” he said.
He said the Saga driver and another passenger sustained injuries and were rushed to the Papar Hospital.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving.
