Star distributes assistance to Membakut flood victims

KENINGAU: A total of 175 flood victims from three villages in Membakut received assistance from Parti Solidarity Tanah Airku (Star Sabah) recently.

The three villages are Kg Sinoko, Kg Bambangan and Kg Tamoi.  The aid were in the form of mineral water and rice.

The donations were contributed by Star Sabah President cum Keningau Member of Parliament Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, Deputy President cum Sook Assemblyman Datuk Ellron Alfred Angin and Vice President cum Bingkor Assemblyman Robert Tawik.

Other contributors were by the party‘s Secretary-General Guandee Kohoi, Strategic Director Edward Linggu, Supreme Council Members cum Head of the Membakut Division Benjamin Ondoi, Vice Chairman of CWC Bongawan Jamil William Core, Central CWC and Sabah Star division Chairmen.

It was handed over by Robert, the Central Supreme Council Members, the CWC and division leaders at a ceremony.

Robert when contacted here on Sunday said the idea of sending the aid came after learning that the flood victims in Membakut had not received any assistance. “We decided to collect as many aid as possible and once everything is available we distributed it on Dec 18,” he said.

“We convey it on a humanitarian basis and express our sympathy to the victims affected,” he said.

He called for more political parties including private sectors and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to come forward and help to ease the burden of victims and their families.
