KOTA BELUD: Four suspected goat thieves were stopped in their tracks in Kg Tempasuk, here, on Christmas Eve.

District Police Chief Supt Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said they attempted to escape from the law enforcement in two Perodua Myvi cars around noon.

However, two of the suspects inside one of the vehicles skidded off the road and surrendered to police, while the other two who also fled in another Myvi were intercepted by police and arrested.

Based on preliminary investigation, Zaidi said the four, aged between 30 and 56, were in the midst of selling three goats suspected to be stolen when they realised the presence of police and fled.

“A 5km pursuit took place between the police and the suspects prior to the Myvi skidding in Kg Sembirai, while the other Myvi was intercepted by police.

“Investigation showed the group was involved in stealing cows and gas cylinders and housebreaking here since last year,” he said.

Zaidi said apart from the vehicles, three mobile handphones and three goats were also seized.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
