Tuaran: More than 1,000 children aged five and below received additional polio immunisations during a Ministry of Health campaign at Taman Telipok Ria, here, Friday.

The campaign to prevent the spread of polio also aims to regain the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recognition that Malaysia is a polio-free country.

Daily Express observed the liquid vaccines were dropped into the children’s mouths during the campaign that was supported by Unicef.

The 10am-6pm exercise was carried out inside a community hall in the district where Malaysia’s first polio in 27 years was detected on Dec 6.
