KENINGAU: Bingkor Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star Sabah) division welcomed the proposal to discuss the formation of the Consensus Council (Majlis Permuafakatan) between Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Star Sabah and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS).
Its party division head Robert Tawik, said the proposal was timely for the three parties who had the same struggle to forge cooperation in preparation for the next General Election.

“This proposal is welcomed and the Bingkor Star Sabah fully supported this proposal,” he said when asked to comment on a statement by PBS Kiulu divisional delegate, Kumin Gabpai during the 34th PBS congress in Hongkod Koisaan Penampang recently.
Robert who is Star Sabah Vice-President believed that through this cooperation, it will certainly have an impact on these three parties in its struggle in defending the right and future of indigenous people in the State.
Robert, who is also Bingkor State Assemblyman believed that the move would also restore people’s confidence for the party’s struggle that have the same objectives.
“Star Sabah fully supports the proposal to hold a meeting to discuss the formation of this council between Star Sabah, PBRS and PBS as proposed by the Kiulu PBS Division delegates,” said Robert.

In debating the keynote address by PBS President Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili at the 34th PBS Congress in Hongkod Koisaan Penampang recently, Gabpai suggested that PBS lead the formation of the Opposition Majls Pemaufakatan with the Star and PBRS.
He said the move was necessary because the Gabungan Bersatu Sabah (GBS) had not yet registered.

Maximus was reported to have said that PBS would not be with GBS for now.
Kumin said the move was to foster better understanding and political cooperation between the three parties in the face of the coming General Elections.
“Based on the grassroots response it showed that they wanted the three parties to work as a team to win more seats in the coming general election,” he said.

Kumin also said PBS is a strong party but other parties like Star also have their own strengths.
“Imagine how great it would be for us to combine our strengths and resources together,” he said and citing a GE14 results in the Kiulu state constituency where PBS-BN received 4,336 votes and Star 2,457 votes.
