Tenom: “Visit Tenom Year 2020” (TMT 2020) commenced on Jan 1 in the district here, but the problem of dogs lingering in the township area still remains a cause for concern, as it could give a bad first impression to tourists.Despite calls by Tenom District Officer Sungkim Rumangun issued to owners to relocate the dogs to a more appropriate location, they failed to comply.

“We still need the cooperation of the owners or non-governmental organisations (NGO) responsible for animal management matters, so that they can be relocated properly.
“It is our hope that this issue will be addressed as best as possible… because we want to avoid the tourists’ perception who could consider this to be a negative thing,” he said when contacted by Daily Express, Thursday.
Meanwhile, a government official, who declined to be named, said before such rules and warnings were imposed, the local authorities (PBT) would issue orders to capture and put down the stray animals that roam the housing and urban areas.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
