Elderly man killed in Lahad Datu road mishap

LAHAD DATU: A 67-year-old died after he was hit by a car at Jalan Pantai, here, Monday.
District Police Chief ACP Nasri Mansor said the Perdua Kancil was heading to I Peak from town when the incident happened about 9.25am while the elderly man suddenly crossed the road.

“The victim was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead due to head injuries,” he said, adding that the driver later lodged a report at the police headquarters.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Meanwhile, in KUNAK, two Palauh men (sea gypsies) were nabbed at Kg Sri Langgas on suspicion of selling bombed fish, on Sunday.
State (Region Four) Marine Police Commander ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali said a Marine Intelligence Unit on “Ops Gelora” detained the duo, in their 30s, after raiding two houses in the village about 6am following a tip-off.

“An inspection on the premises led to the discovery of 22kg of ammonium nitrate and 45 detonators, among others, believed to be used for fish bombing,” he said.

He said the suspects were also believed to be selling the fish-bombing equipment.

The seizures were estimated to be worth RM1,070.
