LAHAD DATU: Police detained a 29-year-old man, believed to be an illegal immigrant, for possessing two homemade air rifles and bullets.

District Police Chief ACP Nasri Mansor said the suspect was arrested at an unnumbered house in Mile 18, Jalan Segama, here, on Wednesday.

He said an air riffle was found at the side of a cabinet in the living room and a cigarette box containing two live bullets was found on a kitchen rack.

“Another homemade gun and three marbles, believed to be used as bullets for the air gun, as well as a bottle of ‘Spirit’ liquid were found in a backpack,” he added.

Investigations showed the suspect, believed to be a plantation worker, has been living in the area since a year ago.

The suspect and the seizures were taken to the police headquarters for further investigation under Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1960.
