KOTA KINABALU: A woman was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here on Monday with assaulting a former Sandakan District Chief, last year.

Hasnatul Atirah Pail pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to causing hurt to one Asainar @ Hassnar M.P. Ebrahim, in May 2019, in a room of an apartment in city centre.

Hasnatul allegedly committed the offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code, along with another woman.

The charge carries a jail term of up to one year or fine, or both, on conviction.

The prosecution in applying for a new mention date proposed bail at RM4,000 in two sureties.

Hasnatul, who was not represented, requested for a lower bail amount on the grounds that she is currently unemployed.

Lovely set Feb 2 for case management and offered Hasnatul bail at RM1,000 in two sureties.

Meanwhile, a 43-year-old man also claimed trial to another similar offence.

Mohd Ijepatar Mustapha, who appeared before Magistrate Afiq Agoes, was accused of beating one Surezza Ng at 7.15am on March 14, 2019 in front of the luggage inspection corner in the Terminal 2 airport in Tanjung Aru.

Afiq set Feb 10 for case management and released Ijepatar on a bail of RM1,000 in two sureties.

Ijepatar was not represented.

Inspectors Suzie @ Stephanie Kupit and Lim Swee Beng prosecuted.
