LABUAN: As the new lunar year approaches many Chinese are busy preparing for the dotting the lions eyes ceremony, an event that procedes the New Year celebrations.
The Peng Hunag Shan Da Xian Miao (Temple of 8 Immortal) at Raucha-Rancha here performed the ceremony Monday in an early start with six of the lions. Senior temple officials including an Advisory Council of Labuan Corporation Noor Halim Zaini were given the honour to “spiritualise” the lions.

An adviser of the temple Datuk Robert Seah said “the ceremony symbolises life-given to the lions, dotting the eye with a paint would ensure the lion could see, the mouth to enable it to eat and ears for it to hear.”
