Govt will adopt new mechanism to solve PSS problem: Peter
TAMBUNAN: The State Government will adopt a new mechanism to ensure the implementation of the Sabah Temporary Pass (PSS) will be fine-tuned and acceptable to all.

State Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Peter Anthony said due to various negative speculations that make the PSS a currently hot topic, it is important to consider the best way to help people understand PSS.

“Our way is that we want these illegal immigrants to be repatriated, which is our intention that many may not understand. No matter what, we will take this approach to finding a new mechanism or a new way of solving our PSS problem,” he said.

He was approached by the media after visiting 45-year-old Julius Stephen Apak and his five children in Kampung Monsuk Ulu, whose house was razed on Jan. 10.

Peter said the victims will be provided assistance through the home assistance programme as soon as possible.

“We will make sure the home for this family is built immediately for their comfort,” he said.

Meanwhile, Peter approved the construction of a concrete bridge across the Sungai Monsok Ulu to the village.

However, Peter did not specify the amount of allocation for the bridge, adding the allocation is not very high as the river is not large.

“I have directed the Public Works Department to make an inspection and draw up a budget which can be channeled immediately.”

He said a 3km road to the village would be upgraded in the near future and has approved a community hall maintenance project as well as the construction of public toilets in Kampung Monsok Tengah.

Also present during the visit were Tambunan District Officer Jumain Abdul Ghani, Tambunan Community Development Leader Basal Bullah, department heads and community leaders.
