Pedestrian sitting by roadside hurt by car

BELURAN: A 29-year-old pedestrian suffered serious injuries when he was knocked down by a vehicle at Km11 along Jalan Beluran – Telupid here on Monday.
Its district police chief, Supt Kasim Muda said the victim is identified as Kushairy Abdul Kadir was sitting by the roadside at Kg Balaban Jaya area before a car crashed onto him on Jan 20.

He said the car was coming from Beluran to go to Sandakan.
“Upon reaching the scene, the victim was lying inside a drain and sustained serious injuries on his head, stomach and broke his left thigh due to severe collision.
“The victim was rushed to the district hospital and brought to the Duchess of Kent Hospital here for further medical treatment,” he said.
Kasim said the motorist, who fled after the incident, has been arrested and brought to the police station here for further investigation.

He said sample of blood from the motorists has been taken and sent to the Chemist Department to be processed.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987 for reckless driving.
