Motorcyclist killed in Lahad Datu crash

LAHAD DATU: A motorcyclist was killed while his daughter was injured after their machine was involved in accident with a Kia Spectra at Jalan Lahad Datu-Tungku on Tuesday.
District Police Chief, ACP Nasri Mansor,said Mohd Salleh Abd Rajat, 63, succumbed to injuries at the scene.

Preliminary investigations found that the Kia was heading towards Lahad Datu from Tungku while the motorcycle was in the opposite direction when the incident occurred at about 12pm.
He said the motorcycle was turning right to enter a junction and the Kia Spectra could not avoid and hit the motorcycle causing the motorcyclist and his pillion rider thrown off to the road shoulder.
The 32-year-old daughter was sent to Lahad Datu Hospital for treatment.
“The driver of the Kia Spectra, a 35-year-old Indonesian escaped unhurt and was currently remand to assist in investigation,” he said.

Nasri said both driver and motorcyclist are not suspected drunk, however, blood sample are taken for test. He said the driver also tested negative for drug abuse.

The case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
