Remember those who volunteer, says Ranau MP

RANAU: While remembering the less fortunate during events like Christmas and Chinese New Year, the people must not forget about those who volunteered to care for such individuals.
Ranau MP Jonathan Yasin said those who volunteered to care for the sick and needy are unsung heroes.

“We could look at things from the negative and positive perspective. From one side of the perspective, it may seem unfortunate for a family when one of its members are categorised as special needs individual.
“But such situation is also a time where other family members become more caring and attentive to the needs of others. We have these unheralded people within the society whom we need to be thankful for,” he said.
Jonathan, who is also Malaysian Cocoa Board Chairman, said this when officiating at the Ranau Pertubuhan Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PPDK) Christmas-cum-Chinese New Year celebration that was held on Tuesday.
At the event, Jonathan announced a contribution of RM10,000 for Ranau PPDK that will go towards the centre’s daily operational cost.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Ranau PPDK Jabay Surugau thanked Jonathan for the contribution.
He said that apart from government assistance, the centre also receive contributions from others.

“We are indeed grateful because there are still those who keep us in their minds and always give us a helping hand.
Currently, there are 106 trainees who are registered with the centre, and thus such contribution is very much welcomed,” he said.
