Couple detained over murder of Indonesian
LAHAD DATU: Police detained a couple to assist in investigations into the murder of a 49-year-old Indonesian at Kilang Bata, Kampung Telisai, Wednesday.

District Police Chief ACP Nasri Mansor said Abdul Latif Saripuddin, who had been living in Sabah for 20 years, was found dead in a pool of blood in the living room by his employer after his neighbour notified their employer.

He said the neighbour informed their employer after she heard the victim’s screams. The employer arrived with her husband and kicked the victim’s door.

The victim, who was living alone after his family went back to Indonesia in 2016, was believed to have been stabbed to death by a sharp object. There was a stab wound on the left side of his stomach.

“Preliminary investigations found no trace of break-in.

The motive of the incident was still under investigation but it was believed that the murder was by individual(s) known to the victim,” he said.

Nasri said the 41-year-old woman who was arrested was a former cleaner at the victim’s house. Her service was terminated two days ago.

Her husband, a 60-year-old from Kampung Telisai, Tungku, worked as labourer.

Investigations are ongoing under Section 302 of the Penal Code. – Eifa Rizan
