LAHAD DATU: A fishing boat was detained by the Marine Police Force, Wednesday, for fishing less than three nautical miles from the shores.
Sabah Region Four Marine Commander, ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali said the boat was detained during Ops Gelora at the Lahad Datu port areas around 9am.

“We have detain the boat skipper and seize a total of 10kg of various types of fish, the boat and fishing net worth RM45,100.
“The arrest and the seizure were later taken to Marine jetty and will be handed over to the Fisheries Department for further action,” he said.
Mohamad Pajeri said Marine Police will not compromise on such act or other activities as it could harm small-scale fishermen and the ecosystem.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 8 (b) of Fisheries Act 1985. – Efa Rizan
