TAWAU: A member of the public here is urging the district municipal council or relevant authorities to replace missing drain covers as well as clear overgrown shrubs along the walkway behind the Proton showroom near Tanjong market (UTC Tawau).

Ahmad Abdullah said immediate action is paramount to ensure for the safety of the people who make use of the facility every day.

“Recently, I accidentally fell into a non-covered drain and hurt my elbow. I almost wanted to complain to the council but there were too many processes to go through. I have lodged a complaint to the district council in December last year but no action was taken,” he claimed.

He also said parking standards in Sabindo ought to be revised as it is inconveniencing road users.

He said drivers with small size vehicle have difficulty to look back while reversing their cars due to big size vehicles and narrow road.

Thus, Ahmad hoped that the council would revise the parking standards in Sabindo for the safety of road users while at the same time convert the illegal open space building into multi-storey car park so as to resolve parking shortage in Tawau township here. – Christy Chok
