Land lot each for 600 Gum Gum households

SANDAKAN: Some 600 households in Gum-Gum constituency will receive a 50 square feet land lot each.
State Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Arunarsin Taib, who is also Gum-Gum Assemblyman, said the lots will be given free to selected applicants.

“However, the management and development cost will be shouldered by the recipients,” he said during the groundbreaking ceremony at Kampung Gum-Gum Baru, here.
He also reminded the recipients to not to sell the land to others and instead turn it into a family inheritance.
“I believe there are still many in Gum-Gum who need a permanent home.

“I no longer want to see any eviction of PPRT (Housing Assistance Programme) residents as they cannot afford to pay for the house, while some are still staying in squatters.”

Meanwhile, Arunarsin disclosed that he is in the midst of gazetting the villages in Gum-Gum, like Kampung Kuala Gum-Gum, Kampung Kitagas, Kampung Semawang, and Kampung Sungai Kapor, among others.
