Diesel illegally stored for sale seized in Ranau

TUARAN: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) seized 340 litres of diesel, believed illegally stored for sale, in a Ranau village, Monday
KPDNHEP’s Tuaran Chief Siti Kamaliah Syamsuddin, when contacted, said the seizure involved seven gallons and one barrel of diesel worth RM680.

She said three law enforcement personnel carried out the raid around 11am at a premise which allegedly stored the controlled item without written permission.
“Enforcement members have been investigating the activity for the past month,” she said.
“The investigation revealed that the diesel was stored at the premise, believed for sale to surrounding residents.”
Siti Kamaliah said the department is also investigating the dealers and suppliers who stocked up the premise.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 which provides a fine of not more than RM1 million or a jail term of up to three years, while the company can be fined RM3 million for a first offence.
