PENAMPANG: Police detained 70 tactical game players including its organiser and seized 198 realistic looking toy guns and components worth about RM21,000 from an extreme sports venue in Penampang last Sunday.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Zaini Jass said Sabah and Penampang police carried out the 3pm raid and arrested the men aged between 21 and 36, who allegedly owned the guns.

“Among the items seized were 62 gel blaster rifles, six gel blaster sub-machine guns, two gel blaster M4 assault rifles and 128 gelsoft magazines,” he said in a press conference Tuesday.

Zaini said gel blaster guns are considered as imitation guns and the owners can be investigated and charged under Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960 which is punishable with not more than one year’s jail or a fine of RM5,000 or both.
