36 new vehicles for Sabah cops
KOTA KINABALU:  Sabah Police Contingent (IPK) received 36 new vehicles on Feb 13 to replace old vehicles that have been disposed of or were involved in road accidents.

The handover ceremony of the vehicles, officiated by Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Zaini Jass, was held at the Sabah Police Contingent (IPK), Tuesday.

“The acquisition of 36 new vehicles was to replace old vehicles that has been disposed of or were involved in accidents and not new additions.

“Among the acquisitions were replacing the Nissan X-Trail 2.0 to Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4, replacement for Kancil 850 to Toyota Hilux Revo Double Cab 2.4G  as well as replacement for Prisoners Transporter lorry.

“Vehicle placement was based on the order given by the Chiefs of Police,” he said.

According to Zaini, all 21 Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.4G  and nine Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.4G.

“Each of the Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.4G costs about RM152,500, Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.4G (RM139,029.35) while for Hino XZU720R Prisoner Transporter lorry about RM165,000 each.

“The total acquisition value for all 36 vehicles was RM5,443,764.15,” he said, adding that he was grateful to the Government for the acquisition. 

Zaini hopes with the new vehicles, it can improve the service delivery, especially in facilitating the police in their task.
