Mahathir resigns as PM, PPBM chairman

Kota Kinabalu: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has tendered his resignation as Prime Minister, said a short statement from the Prime Minister's Office Monday.
A resignation letter was tendered at 1pm Monday to the Agong, Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Later, a statement from PPBM announced Mahathir's resignation as the party's chairman.
Mahathir submitted his resignation letter to PPBM's headquarters on Monday.
Meanwhile, PPBM had left the Pakatan Harapan coalition and all its Members of Parliament had signed a statutory declaration expressing support to Mahathir to be Prime Minister, said a statement from the party also Monday.
The party's supreme council made the decision during a special meeting on Sunday, said the release signed by PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, in a party's statement Monday, also expressed support for Mahathir to be Prime Minister.
