Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal did go to Istana Negera to see the Agong as expected of all Members of Paliament for the determination of the new prime minister, contrary to a news report that he had sent a representative instead, said a statement.
An online news site earlier reported an Istana Negara official on Wednesday as saying that Semporna MP Shafie and Padang Rengas MP Mohamed Nazri Aziz were the only two members of Dewan Rakyat who have yet to meet the Agong to reveal their choice for the country’s next top leader.

"It is not true that he had sent a representative who was turned away."
The report further stated Shafie's representative was rejected as the three-minute-long personal interview session with the Agong cannot be attended by anyone other than the MP in question.

The Agong spent the last two days personally interviewing all MPs – excluding Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad – at Istana Negara to determine who, in his judgment, is likely to command the confidence of the majority of the House members in the wake of the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government.
