Hazards as flexi-posts damaged
A TANJUNG Aru motorist has expressed his concern about the traffic hazards along a Luyang road because most of the flexi-posts in the middle of the stretch have been run over.

AMOS said the posts had been placed in the middle of the road at one section of Damai Plaza to discourage drivers from double-parking beside the shops there.

“The inconsiderate action of these vehicle owners caused a bad jam to form on the side of the road which was closer to the building,” he said.

“Motorists who work at the centre faced this inconvenience daily, especially during the peak hours before offices open and after they close,” he said.

He said drivers, trying to swerve around the cars which had been double-parked, also ran the risk of colliding with the traffic coming from the opposite direction.

Amos lauded the effort to erect the posts as he felt that these structures improved the flow of vehicles on the stretch.

“However, the local authorities have failed to maintain the posts. Many of them have since been run over.

“They should seriously look into having the damaged posts replaced before anything unpleasant occurs here.”

He hoped the relevant agency would not wait for an accident to occur, and lives to be lost, before they intervened.

Amos provided Hotline with the location of the road in question. This information was forwarded to City Hall.

A spokesman for the authority said its staff would have to verify these claims.

“We will have to determine if the road and flexi-posts in question are under our jurisdiction,” he said.

“If this is so, we will arrange to have those that are missing replaced as soon as possible.”

He said the relevant agency would be alerted to the problem at the intersection, if the opposite proved to be the case.  (SS)
