Schools make Keningau proud
KENINGAU: SMK Gunsanad scored 100 per cent passing rate in the Malaysian Higher Education Certificate (STPM) results last year with one of the students getting CGPA 4.00.

Its Principal, Jemira Ekong, said the school is also among the top schools in Sabah and maintains a 100 per cent passing rate for the second time in the STPM examination of the Keningau District Education Office in 2017 and 2019.

“In addition, the school is also ranked in first place as the best STPM 2019 for District Education Office’s level among form six centres out of six secondary schools that have form six centers in this district,” she said on Wednesday.

She said the 100 per cent achievements were the result of the strong cooperation and commitment of students, teachers and parents as well as guidance and counselling units that sought to ensure in excellence success.

Jemira said that among the 51 best candidates for last year STPM, one candidate, Noraina Noraidi obtained a CGPA of 4.00 while the school GPS last year had also increased to 2.61 from 2.41 in 2018.

Meanwhile, SMK Bingkor here have recorded a 100 per cent passes in the STPM last year with three of its students earning a CGPA of 3.75.

The three students were Jenevy Yong, Fadilla Stephen and Siti Norrizah George, said principal Alexsius Tingadon.

He said a total of 109 candidates sat for the STPM last year with a 100 per cent passing rate compared to 96.88 per cent in 2018.

“The first time this school reached 100 per cent was in 2016,” he said.

According to him, seven students from the school also excelled last year with CGPA of 3.50 and 3.33 besides Jenevy, Fadila and Siti Norrizah.

He said, they include Harry Jaslen (3.58), Roger Vijay George (3.58), Presella Stephen (3.50), Shazlin Izzatie Deddy (3.42), Renelyda James (3.42), Rineaztica Jubrine (3.42) and Erwinchyle Jainin (3.33).

“The success also motivates STPM students this year to maintain this achievement.

“The school, especially Form Six teachers, are very proud,” he said.

The achievement also increased the School Average Grade (GPS) from 2.42 in 2018 to 2.51 in 2019.

He said it also placed the school in 11th place in Sabah in Category 3 (number of candidates of 100 and above).

“This success is also the result of close cooperation and commitment from various parties. Teachers have the full support of the school management and parents to ensure PDPC and activities to improve performance smoothly,” he said.

Alexsius said the success was also the result of a programme implemented by the school such as “latih tubi” and “mengapai bintang”.

At the event, Alexsius presented STPM result sheets to students who were accompanied by their parents.

Meanwhile, SMK Keningau II also received 100 per cent passes from the 89 students who sat for the STPM exam last year.

Its Principal, Haji Ahmud Haji Saribin, said there was a 0.8 per cent increase in passes compared to 2018’s 99.2 per cent.

He said last year’s performance was better in terms of passing percentage but there was a slight decrease in GPA 00.1 per cent last year compared to 2018.

“The school GPA last year was 2.58 compared to 2.59 in 2018,” he said.

Ahmud said, a student at the school, Lydiana Linda Luis was the best student obtained a CGPA of 3.75. He also presented the result slips to all the STPM students at the school.
