SIBU: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg should not strike a deal with certain parties in the ongoing political crisis, says Sarawak DAP.

State deputy chairman David Wong urged the Chief Minister to reject any parties out to destroy the country through undemocratic means by plotting to topple the duly elected government of Pakatan Harapan.

“I trust that Abang Johari will use his wisdom to stop the political manoeuvring that is happening now to save our democracy and protect the interest of the people.

“There are speculations that GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) has cut a political deal with certain parties in the latest political saga.

“We hope Sarawak will not get involved with any parties out to destroy our fundamental principles of democracy for their personal interests. These parties cannot be trusted no matter what their promises are,” he said on Friday (Feb 28).

The Pelawan assemblyman said this in reference to a group of Pakatan MPs who have quit the coalition in a bid to change the Federal Government.

Wong said while the country was facing the threat of Covid-19 outbreak, these few turncoats had teamed up with Umno and PAS, putting their interests above the people.

“The 18 MPs from GPS can put a stop to this and not be a part of the conspiracy to enter through the back door without the mandate of the people,” he said.

Wong urged GPS to uphold the Constitution, respect the wishes of the voters by allowing Pakatan to complete its full term in office.
