“I noticed several parts of the roadside drains in this residential are either not covered or their concrete slab covers are missing because they broke and fell into the structure,” said ZAIN, a resident there.
He stressed the need to provide a covering for this structure to prevent unsuspecting motorists from ending up sideways in the drain.
“This is bound to happen from how I see it because some of the areas are located at road junctions.
“Problem occurs when two big vehicles are vying for right of way at these road junctions because one must give way for the other to proceed through but the narrow road width makes the situation difficult.

“So often driver will fall into this uncovered drain,” he said, adding that it can avoided had the structure was covered with concrete slab.
He said some of the roadside drain have been sealed but certain areas there are left exposed after the slabs broke and have never been replaced.

“Another reason for this is to prevent litterbugs from throwing rubbish into these drains,” he added.
Apart from that, he also raised the long standing issue about the inoperative streetlights in the neighbourhood.
“Why are most of the streetlights have not been activated even after highlighting it to the Council many times before?,” he asked.
A Council spokesman, when contacted recently, apologised to the residents for the inconvenience they have experienced due to these problems.
“The infrastructure in this housing estate is actually under another government agency but we will assist to push these issues forward until they are rectified,” he added.
