LABUAN: Labuan MP Datuk Rozman Isli lodged a report Tuesday against a local news blog, Sabahkini2, over a news report which claimed he was ready to quit Parti Warisan to join Perikatan Nasional (PN) headed by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The speculative report was published not long before the unveiling of the new Cabinet line-up and went viral on various social media platforms, “stirring unnecessary confusion among Warisan leaders.”

“I had lodged a police report against the news blog to seek an open apology over their defaming report.

“This police report will also be for my next course of action whether to take legal action or otherwise, against the news blog,” he told a press conference, Tuesday.

Rozman said he was continuously questioned by many parties, especially from the Warisan top leadership regarding the report.

“I strongly deny the Sabahkini2 report which has damaged my reputation and I hope my brief denial through an infographic yesterday (Monday) and today will clear the confusion.

“This is my stand as Labuan’s MP representing Warisan… I will continue to stand by Warisan and I am prepared to be an opposition MP to voice out the rights of Labuan and Sabah,” said Rozman, who quit as Labuan Corporation Advisory Council Chairman last week.

“I have actually consulted my friends who are well-versed on legal aspect of the report. I was told there is a case of defamation linked to the timing of when the report was posted, in time of the issues about ‘horse-trading’, where there were other MPs being persuaded into joining a certain bloc.

“I believe there might still be certain people who believe in the report despite my denial in the infographic, I feel it is appropriate for Sabahkini.com to issue an apology over the report as (it) can help restore the damage done to my reputation,” he added.
