CITY Hall has cleared a mound of sediment piled up outside a Kepayan house in Lorong 2E, following a complaint about the mess on the five-foot way beside the stretch.A City Hall spokesman said its officers carried out an inspection, together with the rate-payer, shortly after the agency was made aware of the problem. “Following this check, our workers cleared the earth and weeds which had sprung up along the curb on either side of the housing road,” he said.
“The Government concessionaire was alerted to the homeowner’s concern about the pile of earth on the pavement, which was overgrown with grass.”
He said the firm deployed an excavator and open truck to facilitate efforts to clear the five-foot way and level the verge, a few days after this.
The spokesman urged rate-payers to inform City Hall directly of any irregularities in their neighbourhood, including obstructions on the five-foot wayADVERTISEMENT
“This will enable action to be taken to resolve these problems as soon as possible.”
LEE, who lives in the Kepayan Ridge area, said the mess from inside the drain had been lying the five-foot way at one section of Lorong 2E for almost two months.

“Part of the debris on the side was washed back into these structures, while the remainder has become overgrown with weeds,” he said.
“What is the point of cleaning the drain, if the local authorities are going to allow this to happen?”
At one stage, he saw a worker in another section of the neighbourhood and enquired when the muck would be cleared.
“This individual said the agency would eventually get round to doing this.
“There was no sense of urgency about the reply. It was almost as if he could not be bothered, one way or another, if the drain became clogged again.”
The spokesman said action to de-sludge the drains beside the stretch was performed by the Government concessionaire.
He said the agency generally alerted the firm’s staff if these structures were blocked.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

“This is the most that we can do as we are only responsible for clearing those drains outside the backyard,” he said.
“This work is carried out once every three months.” (SS)
