Rubbish have been lying on this part of the children playground in Damai, Luyang, for more than a week.
CITY Hall will slap a RM5,000 compound on those who caught littering in the vicinity of the children’s playground near Damai Plaza in Luyang. A member of the public contacted Hotline on March 8, to complain about the irresponsible act of certain individuals who treated lush trees in that compound as their regular dumpsite.ADVERTISEMENT
All kind of rubbish including a pile of used plastic bottles can be found underneath some of the trees there.
A spokesman for the City Hall’s Cleanliness and Environmental Health Department, when contacted recently, said the compound is stipulated under Anti-Litter By-Law 2005.
“Throwing your rubbish in public area not only cause an eyesore but may also invite pests, rodents and insects that can transmit diseases,” he added.
In this case, he said a bin centre which accommodate several communal bins is just a stone’s throw away from the illegal dumping site.ADVERTISEMENT
“Everyone should make full use of the communal bins to discard their rubbish,” he added.
He hoped members of the public will give their full cooperation to the City Hall in keeping the

city and its suburban areas clean.
SIMON, who spotted the so-called landfill recently, said he was upset to see rubbish strewn under some of the trees there.
“I don’t blame the authority for this because nobody will see the piles of rubbish from a distance as they are hidden below these trees,” he added.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

He said no matter how small the rubbish they throw, be it a sweet wrapper, cigarette butt, tissue paper or plastic waste, their quantity will grow.
“Who would pick up this rubbish later if not the poor hardworking cleaners employed by the local authorities?,” he asked. (OV)
