Police deny access to Lahad Datu is closed
LAHAD DATU: Police here have denied that access to the district has been closed due to the Covid 19 outbreak as claimed on social media.

District Police Chief ACP Nasri Mansor said they were informed of three voice messages in Cantonese making their rounds in the WhatsApp application regarding closure of the district.

He said the voice messages claimed there was a roadblock before Lahad Datu and people wearing masks were seen and Lahad Datu will be closed to outsiders.

“We also received information saying a patient who was put under quarantine escaped from the hospital.

“These are false information and we will take action against those who spread such misleading information,” he said.

Nasri said the public should remain calm and do not simply believe the rumours spread on social media, adding they should get confirmation from the authorities.
