LAHAD DATU: Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) Commander, DCP Datuk Hazani Ghazali denied the involvement of Esscom members in the random act of shooting at a plantation here, Saturday.

Hazani said he was made to understand that in the 4.32pm incident, the main gate of KTS Plantation Sdn Bhd was visited by a group of men aged between 33 and 44 in two Four Wheel Drives (4WDs).

“All of them, including one of them impersonating an Esscom member urged the security guard at the main gate to let them enter the plantation for hunting.

“However, when they were not allowed to enter, one of them fired several random shots in the air outside the main gate. They later picked up the bullet shells and left,” he said.

It was understood that a police report was lodged by the plantation management at the Beluran Police Headquarters.

Hazani said no injuries were reported in the incident.

“The authorities are tracking all the suspects that are involved in the incident to confirm their identities as well as firearm used in the incident,” he said.

Hazani also urged any parties to contact the Esscom Operation Centre at 089 863181 if there is any uncertainty about the identity of individual(s) or to confirm Esscom members’ identities who wants to enter premises, plantation and others.
