RM175,500 aid for Labuan students

LABUAN: The Labuan Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) has channeled RM175,500 in zakat aid to the Universiti Malaysia Sabah international campus Labuan (Umskal), Kolej Matrikulasi Labuan (KML) and Labuan Health Department to ease their financial constraints.In a statement, MAIWP Labuan manager, Ahmad Saifuddin Md Tahir, said the tertiary institutions received RM10,000 each on March 25 and that “the zakat aid under ‘Musaadah Covid-19’ is meant for students to buy essentials”.ADVERTISEMENT Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

He said that RM155,500 was given to the Hospital Labuan medical welfare fund “to buy medical equipment for use by Hospital Labuan like continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)/ward machine and medical oxygen concentrator, BiPap machine”.
He said the asnaf (the needy), too, will receive aid via the MAIWP zakat collection centre. – Bernama
